How to Play:
"Traders & Barbarians" offers various well-established variants, such as "Catan Event Cards," "Harbormaster," and "Catan for Two," allowing customization to fit your preferences. The 2-player variant enables you to play both the Base Game and all scenarios of this expansion against a single opponent.
Experience a five-scenario campaign that narrates the development of Catan after the initial settlements and cities have been established.
In the first scenario, "Fishermen of Catan," fishing becomes not just a new addition to the menu but also introduces fresh tactical options.
The second scenario, "The Rivers of Catan," highlights the rivers as crucial lifelines. Building roads and settlements near rivers can lead to great wealth, but arriving too late could result in becoming a poor settler with significant challenges.
In the third scenario, nomads in the oasis lack wool and grain and send out caravans to trade for these resources. Players must navigate the complexities of sending caravans to their own settlements.
Catan's prosperity attracts attention, leading to a "Barbarian Attack" on the coasts. The Catanians must unite and train knights, who battle the barbarians for victory points.
The final scenario, "Traders & Barbarians," focuses on repairing the damage after the barbarians are driven off. Catan’s roads become busy with transport tasks—marble and glass to the castle, sand to the glassworks, and tools to the marble quarry. Successful deliveries earn victory points and gold, but scattered barbarians can disrupt the smooth flow of trade.
